Dyspraxia Foundation to benefit from Ians Death Valley Challenge!
Ian Humm, 22 of Colchester is affected by Dyspraxia and could not tie his own shoelaces as a child. Now, Ian is aiming to cycle 420 kilometres through Death Valley to raise awarness and money for the charity he cares about.
Ian needs £3,500 in sponsorship to enable him to take on the challenge of a lifetime, and give something back to the Dyspraxia Foundation, the charity which supported him and his mum Shirley. The charity helped Ian get work experience as a cleaner for Rentokil Initial, which eventually saw him earn his current job, cleaning for Colchesters Debenhams store. Working has enabled Ians confidence to grow, and inspired him to push himself to do something out of the ordinary. Ians five-day challenge will begin when he flies out to Las Vegas on November 10.
Ian said My aim is to raise awareness of Dyspraxia, especially for children with dyspraxia. Dyspraxia used to control my life so I would like to raise awareness because I never got the help, which I have now been given. The Dyspraxia Foundation were also the reason my family understand me better after lengthy calls over the phone, which helped my mother to understand what Dyspraxia is and explained reasons why I couldn't do the things at the time. The Dyspraxia Foundations is the organisation which spreads awareness of the condition, which is why I'm supporting it by doing this."
